11 months

11 months people!  Caleb is growing so fast.  The other day I was looking at him in his crib while he was sleeping and I was thinking about the first time I laid him in his crib.  It felt weird putting him in there because he looked so teeny tiny as if he was out of place.  That was our second night home and I remember thinking that someday he'd grow big and fill that crib right up.  Well that time has come.  It was an extremely surreal moment and I just smiled as I remembered back to that thought I had 11 months ago.

Everyone says time goes so fast once you have children and it's so true.  I realize time moves at the same pace at all times, but now it's as if you have something that measures time because you can see them changing and growing.  These past 11 months have been amazing and I'm so grateful that God chose Caleb for us because he is, hands down, the best son in the world!

So big news, BIG NEWS!  Caleb is walking!!!  A week or so ago he took a few steps and then he'd take a few more but wasn't overly excited about it so I didn't push him.  Well yesterday he started taking A LOT more consecutive steps and today he is walking all over the place.  It's the cutest thing I've been able to experience so far as a mom because when he starts out his eyes are locked on mine.  His hands are raised in the air to help with balance and he begins to step with a look on his face saying "Ok Caleb, you got this, just focus and walk over to mom.  Make her proud."  And each step he takes his smile gets bigger and bigger and he starts to move faster and faster.  Then, when he gets close to me, he lunges forward into my arms and giggles!  And boy oh boy does he make me proud!!  Love this little guy so much!

- He's WALKING!

- He says mama and dada!  Melts my heart. :)

- He lifts his arms behind his head when we say "How big is Caleb?"

- He also lifts his toy phone to his ear and blabbers...I wonder what he's saying and who he's talking to.  So adorable.

- Caleb has 6 teeth, 2 on the bottom and  4 on the top.

- He STILL loves sipping water from the big glass.

- He loves swimming in the pool with grandma!!

- Balls, balls and more balls.  If we didn't have any other toy I don't think he'd mind.  He loves throwing balls all over the place and then chasing after them to throw them again.  Natural athlete?  Very likely.

Nightly Peek and Kiss

So we are the old fashioned couple who doesn't have the video monitor to see how Caleb is doing in his crib at night.  Instead every single night we go into his room and just stare at him while he's sleeping.  It truly is such a highlight of each day.  We have done it every single night since he was born and to this day it does not get old.  Once we've had our share of staring at our sound asleep, peaceful dreaming little boy, we each give him a kiss.  At some point we will stop doing this because I'm pretty sure this won't fly with Caleb when he's 16 years old. :)  Anyway, here's a peek at what we get to peek at every night. <3

Technology

Just a tad different from when Dave and I were this age.  These didn't exist back in 1982...oh wait yes they did, only phones were rotary dial with a cord to the handset.....and computers were encyclopedias, newspapers, books, dictionaries, maps and that big amazing thing between your ears.

Sometimes I wonder what we did before cell phones and the internet.  How did we find places to go?  There was no Google Maps or GPS systems.  You just drove around searching for new places I guess.  What happened if you were in the car and needed to call someone before cell phones?  You just waited until you got home to call.  Both before and after technology has it's pros and cons but I think it's kind of neat to be able to say that we experienced each scenario.

It's amazing to think how much has changed in our lifetime.  I wonder what more could possibly be invented but at the same time I'm not naive enough to believe there's nothing else left to invent.  Before the first airplane was invented I'm sure nobody even fathomed people flying through the air someday, same thing with cars and electricity.  I'm excited to see what else gets invented in our lifetime so invent on you amazing, creative, intelligent inventors!!  Thank you for all the technology that exists already because I'm enjoying having the opportunity to even put this blog together.

Double Digits People!

Another month just flew by!  We are now in the process of planning his first birthday party.  It's bitter sweet. I'm excited to plan a party for him but sad that he's already going to be a year old.  I truly can't believe how fast time is going.  Anyway, this past month has been super fun of course.  I feel like every day he just keeps getting happier and funnier which I didn't think was possible.  Don't get me wrong he still has a few fits but those seem pretty rare...mostly when he's teething.  I take advantage of it though by cuddling him right up!  Here are a few of his 10 month pictures.

Yes his hair is getting much more blonde.  Everyone has been commenting on how blonde it is.  When he was first born his hair was super dark brown but there is certainly no dark brown in his hair anymore.  He's going to be a blondie like his daddy.

- He's walking behind his little walker as you see in the picture above.

- He gives high fives.  Lately he will grab my hand, slap it for a high five and then grab my finger and put it in his mouth because he's teething.  I learned to not let him do this because OUCH he can bite hard.  Those teeth are sharp.

- Caleb has 4 teeth, two on the bottom and two on the top.  There are two more on the top that are about to poke through any day.

- He's transitioning from purees to fresh food.

- He still loves drinking water from momma's big glass.

- He knows how to get off the couch although sometimes he forgets and goes head first.  That doesn't feel too good but he hopefully learned his lesson.

- He has discovered every cabinet or drawer possible in the entire place.

Busted

Pre-Caleb the saying was "Silence is Golden" but post-Caleb the saying is "Silence is Suspicious".  I noticed I hadn't heard Caleb for awhile so I decided to check on him to see what he was up to.  This is what I found...

Everything he does makes me smile...even unrolling the toilet paper.  It's amazing how the simplest things are so fun to children.
