Minnesota State Fair

Caleb experienced his very first Minnesota State Fair!  Dave and I have made it a tradition to go every year however we didn't make it out last year because I was 8 months pregnant.  Walking all over the place in humid weather with cankles...wait lets just be honest it was more than just cankles.  My feet, ankles and lower legs were pretty much filled with 10 gallons of water.  For those of you that don't know what cankles are, it's when your calf runs into your ankles as if you have no ankles.  I already had this going on pre-pregnancy but during pregnancy it brought it to a whole new level.  I recall my midwife saying "Oh your ankles are swollen".  I said "no, that's normal".  She then asks "Are you German"?  "Yes as a matter of fact I am".  She's like "ahh ok that makes sense".  So I've been blessed with some great German cankles.  Anyway, let's get back on subject.

So the state fair was a blast!  We visited with the animals, toured some booths, walked a ton and ate some good/not-so-healthy food!  We ate cheese curds, a scotch egg and some fried green tomatoes.  It was nearly not enough food but the little guy could only handle so much of the state fair.  He is not one to sleep in his stroller although hopefully that will change.  When we left, the second I put him in his car seat he was out like a light.  We did however visit the Republican booth and they gave Caleb a red balloon.  You can see the balloon in the pictures below and it honestly bought us a couple extra hours at the fair because man-o-man he LOVED that balloon!  While we were at that booth we also got our pic with Ronnie.

Overall it was a great time and we're excited to see Caleb's response next year at the fair when he's more interactive.
