Sowing into our marriage

Dave and I believe that it's vital to sow into our marriage by going on dates without our handsome little offspring.  Grandpa and grandma on both sides enjoy this because they get to spend time with their one and only favorite grandson!  Grandma Patty graciously came down this past weekend so that Dave and I could have an entire date day!  Thanks grandma Patty, we love you!!!

It started off with Dave getting a haircut… I know, not that glamorous for a date but he already had the appointment set up.  That didn't take long so afterwards we headed off to lunch at Smack Shack in downtown Minneapolis.

We devoured some delicious, perfectly crispy, fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Shockingly, Dave liked the fried green tomatoes which you can see expressed in the picture below!  This says a lot because he hates tomatoes...when I say hate, I mean he utterly despises them.  I think him liking them had a wee bit to do with the dipping sauce, but nevertheless, he ate tomatoes!!  My expression says "Thank goodness I don't have to wait for the state fair anymore to get fried green tomatoes!"

We ordered Lobster Mac 'n Cheese and a Shrimp Po' Boy to finish off our lunch and Holy Mother it was goooooood!  It was the perfect meal to take down while we watched the NCAA tournament on the big screens.  We will definitely be going back there again, thanks Smack Shack for a great experience.

After lunch we headed to a matinee at the Hopkins Theatre and saw The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug.  It was quite an intense movie and we look forward to seeing the last one.  At this point I like the Lord Of The Rings trilogy better but we shall see what this last movie has in store for us.

We arrived back home just in time to give Caleb a kiss goodnight.  It's funny because we can tell when we are in need of some time with just the two of us, but by the end of our date, we're usually talking about Caleb and how excited we are to see him!  Who wouldn't be excited to see this little guy?!

Cups

Someone likes knocking down cups that mom stacked up.  Oh the simple joys.  Who needs toys when you have plastic cups?

T-wolves

One of my best friends received Minnesota Timberwolves tickets from her work but was unable to use them.  She knows Dave and I are big Twolves fans so she graciously GAVE them to us!  What a blessing!!  Thank you Emily!!  We had a great time cheering on the Twolves as they clinched the win over Sacramento.

Also, thank you Dan, Emily and Kaylin for watching Caleb at the last minute.  We really appreciate it!  Caleb loves you!

TMNT

Heroes in a half shell!  Turtle power!  Such a classic tv show and movie.  I didn't watch much TV but I did watch TMNT.  They're coming out with another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie this year.  Looks like I know what I have planned for August 8th! :)  Check out the pics of Caleb sporting his TMNT garb.

Who needs socks and shoes?

Caleb has come a long way when it comes to peaceful car rides.  However recently he has decided that shoes and socks are not welcome during the car ride.  So we start each car ride with socks and shoes on, followed by some grunting and frustration and then this is what he usually looks like when we get to our destination.

Hi Dad

When I'm at home with Caleb and Dave is at work, occasionally I will record a video and send it to Dave...since I know he misses us!  This is probably one of my all time favorite videos of Caleb.  I adore his smile in this video along with his little mumbles and saying 'I love you'.  He also says "Daa??" and looks at the door because he's truly hoping Daddy is going to walk through the door.  He asks for Daddy about 20 times a day because he absolutely adores his daddy.  So heartwarming.  It takes him a bit to say bu-bye at the end because I think he really enjoys talking to 'his friend' aka himself on the phone.  Seriously this video makes my heart smile and I've watched it at least 50 times.  Hope you like it as much as I do.

Two cuties

We visited Dave's parents this weekend since it was Mike's birthday this past week.  Happy Birthday Mike!!!  Dave was in heaven looking through old coins and old baseball cards.  I was in heaven looking at Dave's baby pictures.  I came across one picture and thought it looked so much like Caleb so I wanted to post it.

Two of my favorite cuties!

Mini-hops part 2

We headed back to mini-hops this past Friday but invited a bunch of our friends and their kids.  We all had such a great time while our kids crawled, climbed, ran, jumped, etc all over the place.  Below are a couple videos of Caleb.

This one is of him running down the trampoline runway however he stops before the foam pit.  We have to work on him jumping in!

This one is Caleb enjoying the trampoline.  I'm pretty sure he's enjoying himself.

Mini-hops

Friday night we checked out the open gym at mini-hops.  Caleb was hesitant for the first two minutes but then really opened up and had a great time!  It's a gymnastics school and they have classes for kids starting at age 12 months.  We never thought of putting Caleb in gymnastics but after attending this place I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in gymnastics class. :)  We will definitely be going back for some more open gyms!

Check out my new hat...

Refrigerator

So the other day Caleb threw something under the refrigerator.  He then watched diligently as I grabbed the broom and fished the toy out from underneath the fridge.  10 minutes later I came back into the kitchen and this is what I found...

This kid cracks me up so much!

Cut to a week later, we were leaving the house to head to work when we both realized we could not find our keys.  We recalled that Caleb had both sets of our keys last.  We searched every inch of the house, in toy boxes, underneath couches, underneath couch cushions, in the heat running boards, in the toilets, in garbages, in dresser drawers and closets, in cupboards, in laundry baskets.  We searched high and low and after 10 to 15 minutes of searching I thought to myself okay what has Caleb been doing lately?  I GOT IT!  Dave, look under the refrigerator, I said.  I brought my flashlight over and sure enough, there they were, both sets, underneath the refrigerator!  Note to self, if anything goes missing, check underneath the refrigerator.
