Go Brewers!

I swear this kid can't get enough of Wisconsin!  I had no influence on this what-so-ever.  Dave claims Caleb is a Minnesota Twin's fan but what kind of Twins fan doesn't even have a Twins hat? ;)  Honestly no matter what hat this little guy wears he's so ADORABLE!!

Cabin/Lake Life

Dave and I were given the opportunity to go to a cabin with some of our best friends this past weekend in Outing, MN.  We may have inspired/influenced/pushed the idea because we LOVE cabin/lake life.  Oddly enough this cabin was only a few miles from the cabin that Dave's grandpa built.  Dave grew up going to the cabin that his grandpa built on Lake Washburn and I grew up hanging out at the Jensen household on Wood Lake in Grantsburg, WI.  We both have so many great memories on the lake from swimming to playing tag to diving docks to skiing to boating to fishing to playing kick the can to grilling to bonfires to s'mores to fireworks, etc!  The epitome of fun in the sun!!

Well this past weekend we definitely had fun in the sun.  We relaxed, cruised on the pontoon, swam in the lake, ate delicious food, shopped, fished and laughed A LOT!  Caleb enjoyed hanging out with two of his best buddies Zeke and Toby.

Dave and I enjoyed hanging out with our best buddies too!  Mike, Emily, Darek, Steph and LuAnn are such gifts from God and are some of the biggest givers/servers we know.  We seriously have been blessed with the best friends anyone could ask for.  Thank you LuAnn, Schwarz Family and Bemis Family for such an amazing weekend at the cabin.  We love you tons!

I took 90+ photos so I won't be able to post them all but I have selected a few of my favs.

The cabin was such a blast and we are excited about many more cabin trips in the future so these two boys can have more precious moments like this.

7 Year Anniversary

Dave and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary on July 8th.  It's crazy because 7 years seems like a long time but it feels like we just got married the other day.  As the saying goes...time flies when you're having fun!  Below are a couple pics from our special day.  PDA alert!

It's been a great 7 years!!  Has it been perfect?  No.  Have we made mistakes? Yes.  Do we still have fun?  All the time!  But that's what great about marriage, it doesn't have to be perfect.  You compromise, you laugh, you cry, you encourage and uplift, you make adjustments, you forgive, you learn to be selfless and you learn a lot about each other so that you can make your marriage even stronger.  We are blessed to have great examples in both of our parents as to what a great marriage should be.  Along with that we were given a few books early on in our marriage which is another reason why we are going strong today!!  The books include Personality Plus, The Five Love Languages and Love and Respect.  I highly recommend them and they are great reads for other relationships as well, not just your marriage.

Dave, I've enjoyed this great journey with you.  I know it's a little cliche but I seriously love you more today than I ever have.  We literally laugh all the time together and that's exactly why I married you!  I'm excited about many many MANY more years of laughter with you!  I love you and as always you're my hero!  Love, your wifey for lifey!

Ok onto our hot date!  Dave gets the selfless husband award because he does NOT like the movie Pride and Prejudice.  It's too chick flicky for him.  I on the other hand LOVE it!  So for our anniversary he planned dinner at Bar La Grassa which was amazing (best salmon I've ever had in my life) followed up by Pride and Prejudice at the Guthrie!!  Don't you agree that he gets the selfless husband award, knowing that he does NOT like that move one bit??  He's amazing and we had such a great time!  Thank you Dave for planning a fabulous anniversary.  I love you tons and happy anniversary to the best husband in the world!!

Happy 4th of July!

Today is a special day for a lot of people in our country.  It is special for a number of reasons... If you live in Minnesota, summer is finally in full swing.  Our friends who live in South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia have a tough time believing that we do get up into the 90's and even crack 100 degrees from time to time.  But it really happens!  Also, the 4th of July is a great time for grilling, baseball, and lake life.  But what makes this day the most special to our family is remembering our history.  237 years ago, a brave group of people that we now call our founding fathers, took a stand.  They realized that there was a better way to live.  Up until that point every country in the history of man kind lived under a dictatorship.  Carissa and I realize that even when a certain party gets elected in today's age, even if we don't agree with the individual in office, we are still far better off than any other country in the world.  Over the past 237 years, countless men and women have sacrificed time with their family, the convenience of sleeping in peace, and even their own lives to continue to protect our freedom.  On this day, we are thankful to God who allowed us to be born here.  We are thankful to our military who keep on sacrificing so that we can enjoy the small things like having a hamburger from the grill on a summer evening with friends.  Or so we can enjoy the big things like the freedom to choose our own destiny.  We have great people in our life who have taught us to remember things like this, and we are excited to teach it to this stud below!

Beach fun

We met up with Dan,  Emily and Kaylin at Bryant Lake Park for some beach fun!  It was a such a beautiful day out too!  Perfect day for relaxing in the sun...well in the shade under a tree for Caleb's sake. :)  Anyway, Caleb was able to experience lake water for the first time.  When it went just up to his ankles, he was fine but once the water came up to his belly I think it was a little to cold for him because he started crying.  We might have to wait for the water to warm up a bit.  Instead he enjoyed himself in the shade on the blanket playing with toys.  It was a fun day hanging out with the fam and we are excited to enjoy the beach a lot more this summer!

9 months!

I feel like I say this every time but it's been another great month!  It's fun seeing Caleb change and develop and I think this month the changes were very significant with crawling so he's Mr. Happy all the time now since he can get wherever he wants to go!  We are enjoying getting him outside as much as possible whether it's on walks or to the beach or just sitting outside at grandpa and grandma's house.  The weather has been great lately so we are taking advantage of it.

He has his 9 month appointment next week so I'm excited to see his stats....and YAY no shots at this appointment. :)

Happy 9 months buddy...you truly are an amazing boy and your daddy and I love you so much!

9 Month Milestones/Likes

- He's on the move and quite the CRAWLER!

- He can clap!  I think he learned it from me singing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands".  It's so cute when he gets excited and starts clapping.

- He has been able to sit up on his own since 6 months but he can now actually get himself from a laying position to a sitting position on his own.

- Caleb gives kisses.  He doesn't always want to give them but when he does it's so cute!  It's a big ol' wide, open mouth, wet kiss.
