Today is a special day for a lot of people in our country. It is special for a number of reasons... If you live in Minnesota, summer is finally in full swing. Our friends who live in South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia have a tough time believing that we do get up into the 90's and even crack 100 degrees from time to time. But it really happens! Also, the 4th of July is a great time for grilling, baseball, and lake life. But what makes this day the most special to our family is remembering our history. 237 years ago, a brave group of people that we now call our founding fathers, took a stand. They realized that there was a better way to live. Up until that point every country in the history of man kind lived under a dictatorship. Carissa and I realize that even when a certain party gets elected in today's age, even if we don't agree with the individual in office, we are still far better off than any other country in the world. Over the past 237 years, countless men and women have sacrificed time with their family, the convenience of sleeping in peace, and even their own lives to continue to protect our freedom. On this day, we are thankful to God who allowed us to be born here. We are thankful to our military who keep on sacrificing so that we can enjoy the small things like having a hamburger from the grill on a summer evening with friends. Or so we can enjoy the big things like the freedom to choose our own destiny. We have great people in our life who have taught us to remember things like this, and we are excited to teach it to this stud below!
