Sous chef

What's the best way to keep Caleb happy and content while I make dinner?  Have him help.  My little sous chef you are so fun!

NES

I remember when Justin and I got our first Nintendo...well it was probably Justin's NES but he was nice enough to let me play.  While playing Super Mario Bros for the first time, when I needed Mario to jump, I would not only push the buttons on the controller but I would also take my hands/arms, while holding the controller, and move them in a jumping motion as if that helped Mario to jump farther.  I have many fond, vivid memories of playing Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Spy Hunter, Paperboy, Mike Tyson's Punchout and many more.

Dave has a lot of memories as well including mastering one of his favorite games Zelda.  His buddies would frequently have Super Tecmo Bowl tournaments where they would stay up all night long and get very little sleep.  Dave still has his Ninendo which we dug out the other day and were able to play a couple games.  It was a very vintage moment and Dave was like a little kid in a candy shop!

Caleb was also pretty intrigued.

I know there are new video game consoles but there is just something nostalgic about the old-school Nintendo.

Summer

I found these pictures and realized how excited I am for warmer weather.  I don't want to wish time away but Caleb absolutely loves being outside and hasn't been out much this winter with it being extremely cold.  On a positive note the cold weather really makes you appreciate the warm weather when it arrives!

Ooooo car!!!

My silhouette, car watching, little buddy!  Nothing more exciting than cars!!

Pure Joy

I love this blue-eyed boy!!

Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site

Caleb does such an amazing job going to sleep.  We have always been really blessed with this.  Some nights he will even point to his bedroom letting us know he's ready for bed.  Or if he doesn't do that and it's time for bed, we will say "Ok time for bed Caleb" and he gets a big smile on his face and walks into his bedroom.  Praise the Lord for this!!

For Christmas we gave him the book Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site and he absolutely LOVES it!  He says 'nigh nigh' to all the trucks.  His favorite is 'duu tuu' aka dump truck.  It's so precious hearing him 'say' new words and I truly enjoy seeing him get excited about reading a book every night.  Ok until our next post, Nigh nigh everyone and enjoy the pics.

Louisville, KY

Dave and I road tripped to Louisville, KY for one of our business conferences back in January.  Caleb spent time with Grandpa Harley and Grandma Patty while we were gone which he absolutely loves!  I'm pretty sure grandpa and grandma enjoy his company as well.  Anyway on our way down we had the pleasure of driving by the Oscar Mayer wiener vehicle!  We actually saw someone pull over and snap a picture on their iPad.  I'm impressed that they actually pulled over...most people would just risk it while driving.  I'm not sure how well their picture turned out since we were traveling about 70+mph.  Our pictures turned out great though!  I wonder what these two guys do for their job?  Do they get to just travel the country in this stellar vehicle and count how many times they see people taking their picture and posting it on Facebook?  Pretty cool.

We arrived Friday night and met up with some of our best friends that we are in business with.  We enjoyed some delicious BBQ at a whole in the wall joint which always seems to be the best food!  Then we headed on over to the Roaring 20s dance party where Dave and I threw down a few dance moves.  Dancing is super fun in general but when you add a costume to the mix it just makes it that much more fun!  We had a blast getting all dressed up.

Saturday and Sunday we surrounded ourselves around great company while taking in loads of success/life lessons and principals.  We have been so blessed to be able to associate with such a fun/loving/uplifting/successful group of people!!  Thanks all for making it an extraordinary weekend.
